Monkeys and Banana Fritters: The grand finale!
Posted in Dreamy Drama by reak at 10:07 pm |

It was already late in the afternoon…I did not know what’s awaiting me…with a little bit of huffing and puffing, I managed to find Rinn’s shop. I stopped by and looked on! A middle-age lady and a young boy, presumably Rinn’s mother and her younger brother, were there manning the shop. Rinn wasn’t there…..‘it just isn’t my day’ I guessed. I went in nonetheless, bought some banana fritters and asked them if Rinn was there.

‘She’s at the riverside.’ the lady said.

‘Uncle, you’re buying banana fritters to feed the monkey?’ little boy said.

‘Don’t mind my little boy! He’s always like that’ the lady interrupted.

‘What’s Rinn doing at riverside? Would you mind?’ I asked.

‘She’s probably just stay there stoning!’ responded the lady.

‘No! Mum! B. Rinn would climb a tree and jump into the river! :-P

‘Would you mind if I meet her there?’ I asked Rinn’s mother.

‘As you wish!’

‘I shall make a move then. Thanks a lot!’

So I went looking for Rinn at the Riverside. Indeed she was there, sitting on a pavilion with both her legs in the water, as if she was thinking about something. She couldn’t see me at first.

‘Rinn!’ I called her name as I approached.

‘Mister, if you’re looking for banana fritters, the shop is at the other side.’ Rinn responded without turning to see. She already knew it was me.

‘Rinn!…I just have something to tell you’

‘Don’t tell me you fall for me! Pat told me about your challenge with him. So who wins?’

‘That…I don’t really care. It was just a brain teaser for fun.’

‘Don’t you like Vonn?’

‘No…Vonn is a good girl, a perfect one actually. But I never really happen to like her.’

‘So what you want to tell me about?’

‘I’m……I’m going back to Singapore soon.’

‘Have you told Vonn and Pat yet?’

‘Not yet but I’ll meet them in class later. I don’t know whether I’ll meet you again before that day’

‘Ok then! I guess it’d come to time like this. Can’t be helped! Good luck on your way!’ Rinn still looked away as she responded.

‘That’s all I wanted to say! I guess I shall leave now. Good bye!’ I turned and was about to leave before Rinn said.

‘Neh! Are you gonna leave a girl like that? Come just come, go just go as and when you please?’ Rinn’s tone changed suddenly. She’s becoming emotional…

I paused but haven’t turned back before she continued….’Neh! Say something!

‘Rinn….I actually liked you. But I believe it isn’t fair for you’

‘Why?…..is it wrong to like someone?’

‘Going away, leaving the girl alone here for an unknown time…is not going be fair to the girl. I just don’t think it’s right to like someone that way.’

‘What if the girl like you too?’

‘It still isn’t fair to the girl’

‘Why does it need to be fair? Life isn’t fair’

I turned around and Rinn’s eyes as if she’s gonna cry…

‘I like you!’ she said.

An air of silence descended upon us…I approached her; using my bared hands, I wiped away her tears…’It’s okay now, Rinn, everything’s gonna be alright‘….[…]

We promised to keep in touch once I got back…by hand-written letters………We didn’t know what future would hold, but we were determined to see it through…..together!

Thus brings the end to the long-standing Operation Heart Hunter drama series. Hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing my first love story…

It is well worth waiting for reading. I think it takes a talented writer to write such a nice first-love story with a good play of words a long with beautiful meaning.

It is a beautiful stream of humor, surprise, and romance. Will there be a next episode?

By the way, introduce Rinn to us when she comes to Singapore =).

Nice one. The storyline’s a bit cliched, but touching nonetheless :-) Keep it up, bro…

Yeah, it’s pretty nice. I’m also your fan. If there would be a role play based on your story, probably it would show more the true feeling of the storyline that you have put down. Especially the part that Rinn’s tears was wiped away by the clean and bared hands of the gentleman is absolutely touching. I want to see the real action rather than imagine:) how does it go?

Continue your good work, brother!

Hi,

I’m a journalist at www.france24.com.

I’m trying to contact Cambodian bloggers to discuss the arrests and trials of former Khmer rouge leaders.

Is it something you’d agree to discuss with me?

You can contact me via e-mail or send me your phone number if you want to discuss that over the phone.

best,

PANHA: the story is purposedly made to be cliched :-p

SAMUTH: well you can start film the movie based on this story if you want, I won’t charge license fee :-P . Just that I won’t be the actor. I’m sure you would be a great actor.
