Do you stop your dog from barking at other people?
Posted in Forbidden Thoughts by reak at 10:27 pm |

I believe that most of you who read here will say “yes”. But do you not feel a little bit uneasy if the dog keeps barking at you and the owner does nothing to stop it?

Barky, the cute puppy next door (I give him a name) often barks at me everytime he senses or sees me. Obviously it’s because i’m new to the neighborhood. It makes quiet a sound in the houses but no one seems to care. The owner can possibly hear and see it, but Barky just keeps on barking. Even the housekeeper who is usually next to Barky never seems to be distracted by the noise.

Now this reminds me of the old days when I was in Phnom Penh. My neighbor had 3 dogs and when I first move in, of course the dogs would bark. But the owners always made efforts to stop them from barking. I don’t know, maybe it’s the culture, or the practices, or they just like to hear dog barking alot here, or Cambodia is only country where owners stop their dog from barking at other people, or maybe I just don’t have anything to write.

Well I don’t mind a cute puppy barking at me all the time. It’s kinda enjoyable. But if a strong bull dog keep barking at me, then I’ll have another idea.

hi! just so you know, so far in every country i’ve been in, people always try to stop their dog from barking… so that the person being barked at will not get scared… so maybe that person in your neighborhood is just an exception… hope ur doing fine over there… take care! =)

hi, justine. Nice to hear from u. It’s not about being scared, but to me if it happens in Cambodia, it’s kinda condescending. But here perhaps, just an exception like u said.
